The current "job" situation.
I put job in quotes because, on Tuesday, I was fired. Well, maybe fired is harsh. They are eliminating my job as of January 1, 2025. So, I can say that maybe BIg Boss won, but in the end, I did get what I was seeking - nobody else will have the job title I have. After nearly two months of waiting, I finally got a flat no to my submission to eliminate those duties that Big Boss had taken over, so I thought that was it. I was going to continue doing my job until my other co-worker retired. So, this was not expected. Not shocked though, honestly, I knew Big Boss and other Bosses would get wind of my desire to change my job, but when the "no" came down, I thought it was closed. The funny part is, they didn't exactly think things through. They have no clue who is going to do the smaller aspects of my job - those little things that kept the big things running. The big things, those will go to the Big Boss. HR didn't say that exactly. They said it would be a "community effort" and that different departments would take up the slack. No, that won't happen, since the head of other departments don't know how to do what I do and don't have time to learn it. It WILL be Big Boss because Big Boss has always wanted it.
Not sure what's next for me. I have small, petty things I can just conveniently forget about when I leave and let the chips fall, but overall, I get a severance and the elimination of the job I'd loved for many, many years. They will discover the mistakes of making too many changes too fast and letting one person decide the fate of an entire organization. And though they'll never admit it, I will know. And that's all I care about.
Mom:
Mom was put on hospice the day after I got "fired". Joy all around. She isn't on death's door, but her terminal diagnosis qualifies her for special care. That will start next week. I'm very thankful because cleaning up after Mom's accidents has been exhausting on my Gen X aged back. I do it because I love her dearly and she knows it's been rough on me and feels bad, which makes me feel bad. Her mental state is the same, but her body is going down fast, so the help is needed big time. She needs prayers that whatever time she has left, it's painfree and joyful.
Random thought of the day:
Baby sneezes are the cutest!
