Well, I'm back.
A random rant: Why, oh why in 2024, are people still posting pics/vids of their babies publicly on social media? Do they not truly understand the scum out there that takes these images and circulate them on the dark web? To be blunt (cause I can on my own blog), there are people out there who are taking pictures of your children and 'getting off' on them. Yes, it happens. I was on my Facebook scrolling and because of the algorithm, I get tons of random public posts, asking me to follow. Mostly they are puppy videos because you know....PUPPIES....but I also get baby/toddler/kid videos. Of course most of them (I say most because some are so obviously staged that it's pathetic and don't even get me started on people who prank their kids and film it) are adorable, they're KIDS, but I'm an innocent Gen X'er who appreciates a cute kiddo. There are people out there that are NOT innocent, my friends. I don't care if I see another public baby video if that means parents wise up and keep their posts to family and friends and not to public.
Is it ignorance, or arrogance that allows these parents (especially influencers) to behave this way? This isn't going to stop until people stop watching the videos and commenting because we all know that this is for the views, likes, comments, etc. But we won't stop. These videos make us smile, make us laugh. And that's what these parents are betting on. Exploitation of children online starts with the parents and can only end with the parents. Period.
On the job situation:
Still no word from HR on my proposal. My rep told me that the ball is in my court and gave me options: 1- Go forward in my current position. 2- Stop doing those job duties that I eliminated in my proposal (kinda doing that now, TBH) until co-worker retires in February/March and then resign. 3- Turn in my resignation now and leave in two weeks.
1 is not an option. I won't continue in the current situation with Big Boss. 2 seems like the best option right now, as I reduce my workload. I also feel 2 will prompt a conversation with Big Boss about why I've neglected some of my duties. I don't mind this as I will be glad to have a discussion about HR not bothering to respond to my proposal. Yes, Big Boss knows about the proposal.
When it comes down to it, I'm mentally tired and there are a lot of moments that I really want to go with option 3 and leave them high and dry. My rep has a point though. 2 allows me to continue to collect a paycheck (I'm salary, so cutting out duties won't affect my pay), so I really have nothing to lose. Did I mention he's a great rep? I've known him for years and he really has my best interest at heart.
As for Mom:
Met with the visiting doc and he's starting her on Rexulti. We'll see what happens in a week or two. I hate putting her on anti-depressants, but it seems to be a necessary evil. Keeping my fingers crossed that we see some positive results. Being told by your Mom that you're an unmitigated bitch, when she's never done that in your entire life, is jarring. Yes, again due to moving the console from behind the couch.
Well, enough ranting. Back to the grind...
Lex :)
