Sorry for the sorta-confusing title. The end is not the end of this website or blog. Obviously, considering I just started it. No, the end is the slow demise of my paid job. I have officially reached the end of my rope. The camel's back is broken in at least two places. I wish I could explain more about the why's and how's, but I can't because inevitably, as with things online, it could reach back to the wrong people. But, let's just say that "Big Boss" decided my job was more fun and proceeded to inch me out of it over the course of the past year. The classic facade of the friendly, helpful superior, while hiding their true self - a narcissistic micromanager. I have never had a boss hover over me the way this person does. Just waiting for me to mess up so the hammer can fall. I'm so done. This person has been condescending and insulting to my time and talent. F* off!

I did find out that I'm not the only one. Big Boss ran off one young co-worker a few months ago and now a second one just quit last month. When I'm gone and one other co-worker retires (already planned for early 2025), that will be four of the head staff gone in less than a year. All because of Big Boss.

I took the big step and submitted a plan to HR last week to dissolve my job by the end of the year. Since Big Boss has decided to take on most of my duties, the rest can be added to the job of the one who will replace the retiring co-worker. I essentially created the job I have now over ten years ago, and I want to be the one to kill it. Petty, yes. Satisfyingly so.

Needless to say, the next time the head staff meets, it should be interesting after this gets out. I don't care. I hope to have an answer from HR before that, but I'm not holding out hope. If HR chooses not to let me reduce my job responsibilities, then I will simply drop a two week notice on their desk and walk. Good luck to them trying to replace me on such short notice. My responsibilities might have gone down by 50%, but that 50% is still vital to the company.

Will update when I know more. Til then, CHIN UP! Lex.

PS: A shout out to my HR representative who has been advising and helping me through this process. He is AWESOME!! and will be missed.
